I've recieved several emails about the audio we played yesterday from the Giants postgame show in which broadcasters Jon Miller, Duane Kuiper, Mike Krukow, and Dave Flemming joked about an impending physical confrontation with the Dodgers broadcasters this weekend. I'll get the audio up here as soon as I can - its a great listen.
As reported by the Fresno Bee Dwight O'Neil was arrested last night on "suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale" (marijuana and rock cocaine).
Here is a statement from Basketball Coach Steve Cleveland as released by Fresno State 20 minutes ago:
“I’m saddened and disappointed to learn Dwight has allegedly been involved in such a serious matter. He is a graduate of Fresno State and we wish him well as he works through this challenge in his life. Out of respect for the judiciary process, I will not be making any additional public statements.”
UPDATE: (Wed Apr 14 - 9:54 AM)
Not a whole lot to say here on this, Daniel Lyght from the Fresno Bee came on the show yesterday and said he was surprised by the news because he has talked to O'Neil in the past about his life and drugs and O'Neil said he was past that part of his life and Daniel said that he believed him.
Also, Steve Cleveland was on the Paul Swearengin Show this morning and hinted that he's recieved some angry corrospondance from fans regarding the arrest, to read between the lines it seems that some are blaming Cleveland for bringing shame to to program. O'Neil was not a Cleveland recruit, and certainly had his issues while in the program - Cleveland reiterated his disapointment in O'Neil's arrest and sounded like he wanted to say more but said he'd leave it at that.
